twenty at the well

I love to read!
And, I encourage a great deal of reading for pleasure in my teaching.
Reading with their children is something that teachers and parents can promote together.
God has blessed many with creativity through dramatic and musical talents and the art of writing.
He has blessed us with the gift of rest and leisure -
- so we can relax and be free to explore and discover the many gifts and talents He has blessed us with.
Our Maker rested and gives us rest.
Our addiction to busyness should not invade our time for rest.
Tools and toys of this world can rob us of rest and distort our idea of leisure.
Exploring through reading is one way to entertain ourselves more simply.
Reading provides rest for the soul.
Join me in seeking shalom in a world that does not want reconciliation.

I love to read anything from inspirational non-fiction, to devotional and self health/healing for the mind and body, to informational and educational, to fiction with an influential/significant message, even those escapist romances can provide rest for the soul. I hope to use this blog as an avenue for a book club: Twenty at the Well. Words have the power to mend ragged hearts, to mess with you in beautiful ways. When I read a masterpiece, I don't just put it away, I treasure it for years to come. The experience of reading with others opens a door to many possibilities and other experiences. So, if you're hunting around for peace, and stillness, and who knows? Maybe even, the fullness of joy, you're invited to walk with me and slow down with me. Through books and this wonderfully messy life. Stay tuned for the first book club selection.
