Today is our baby's due date. While we've been coaxing with kisses and trying to be patient, it's hard to wait for a little one you've been loving on so much in the last 9 months. And, you're so looking forward to meeting this child and giving it a lifetime of love. I wish I could say I have mother's intuition about whether it's a boy or a girl. But, I have no idea. Will it be pretty crocheted flowers and bows? Or, a fresh blue outfit with giraffes and elephants? Either way, we are completely giddy about meeting this little one.
I made some little hats and flowers. |
A little while ago, we had a friend of ours take some photos to help us remember all the sweet moments during pregnancy. She did such a great job recording a special time for us! I'm going to miss feeling the movements, the stretching in tight quarters, and the little hiccups. I've loved all the food cravings this child has too. The bottomless pit excuse works really well when you're pregnant. I don't suppose eating Nutella sandwiches and Ben and Jerry's ice-cream all the time is encouraging this child to come out!

During our photo session we even managed to fit on a little child's teeter-totter (or "seder-soder" as Grandmaman-Claire would say). So, we definitely need to do a photo retake of this with our little one in a year from now or so. I have to say, I'm so glad to know that this child is going to have a great dad growing up. We're pretty blessed to have him in our lives.
I've been in nesting mode trying to put the finishing touches on the nursery before the little one arrives. I was inspired to make some Pinterest projects, make a quilt, and bake some casseroles. Though the baking I've been doing doesn't seem to make it to the freezer.
Quilt in the works! |
40 Week Letter to my child:
Dear Daughter or Son;
Thank you for giving me glimpses of what it is like for our Heavenly Father to love me as His daughter. I'm filled with gratitude for you growing inside of me. Feeling you move around is the sweetest feeling and knowing that I am in partnership with your dad is beyond incredible. I give thanks to God for all the blessings I have. It is a relationship with Him and His Son that has blessed me most in this life and has allowed me to love you forever into eternity.
I have made many mistakes and no doubt will make more before I die. But I have learned to take responsibility for my mistakes, repent, and accept forgiveness. You cannot re-do history, and repentance seems such a small offering to the God who gives us all we have. But, it is all He asks. That's what's so amazing about grace my love! T'is grace.
You can't control all the events that happen to you. But, you can decide how you react to them. Make every effort to change the things you do not like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might just turn a lemon into lemonade. Don't complain. Tell the truth, even if it hurts.
Dear daughter: As you grow into a young woman, please remember to dress modestly and keep your body a temple. 1 Peter 3:3-4
Dear son: Please don't be conformed to the pressures of this world. Pants on the ground will not make you look cool, only unkempt. "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." ~ Matthew 7:12
You are loved so much that is doesn't matter if you follow the latest trends. Trends are only lies of this world anyways. There is so much you can do if you put your mind to it. We can't wait to meet you and am praying for your safe delivery.
"The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing." ~ Zephaniah 3:17
